Plugins
Install Zubtitle.me integrations for your favorite tools.
Zubtitle.me for VLC
Automatically finds, downloads and loads the right subtitles while you watch videos in VLC.
Use your Zubtitle.me API token and keep the same quotas and donor advantages.
The plugin never uploads your video files. It only sends the metadata needed to find subtitles.
If your target language is unavailable, VLC can show the other subtitle languages found.
Simple installation
- Download and unzip the Windows installer package.
- Run “Installer Zubtitle VLC.bat”, paste your API token, then click Install.
- Restart VLC. Zubtitle.me starts automatically and keeps your preferences.
Your API token is available in My account. It can be changed later from VLC: View > Zubtitle.me.
Configuration in VLC: open the View menu, then click Zubtitle.me.
Zubtitle.me for Plex
Adds automatic Zubtitle.me subtitles to Plex with a simplified playback-watch mode. No Plex Pass required.
Works without VLC and keeps the Plex configuration only on the user machine.
Simplified mode: the plugin watches current playback through Plex sessions. Webhook/Plex Pass mode is disabled for now.
Writes a durable sidecar SRT beside the media, refreshes Plex automatically, and verifies that the subtitle becomes visible.
The plugin never uploads video files or Plex tokens to Zubtitle.me. It sends only search metadata.
Local installation
- Download and unzip the Windows package on the Plex server.
- Run the installer. Paste the full Plex XML URL containing X-Plex-Token=, or paste the Plex token alone. Then enter your Zubtitle API token and target language.
- Launch a MKV in Plex. The plugin detects the current playback automatically and searches Zubtitle.me.
Plex token: in Plex Web, open a media item > ... > Get Info > View XML, then copy the full URL or the value after X-Plex-Token=. Plex settings stay local.
Windows config: C:\ProgramData\ZubtitlePlexPlugin\config.json with admin install, or %APPDATA%\ZubtitlePlexPlugin\config.json without admin. Test/playback/log BAT helpers are created in the plugin folder.
Zubtitle.me Folder Watcher
Scans a Windows folder, searches Zubtitle.me, and downloads matching subtitles for your newest videos first.
By default the watcher checks the newest video files before older archives.
Use your Zubtitle.me account language automatically, or choose a fixed target language.
Searches and downloads use the same account limits, donor benefits and admin access as VLC and Plex.
The watcher never uploads video files. It sends filename, size and date metadata only.
Folder installation
- Download and unzip the Windows package.
- Run Installer-Zubtitle-Folder.bat, paste your API token and choose the folder to scan.
- The scheduled task starts at Windows logon and scans the most recent files first.
Your API token is available in My account. The watcher refuses to run anonymously, so visitor quotas are not consumed by mistake.
Windows config: C:\ProgramData\ZubtitleFolderPlugin\config.json with admin install, or %APPDATA%\ZubtitleFolderPlugin\config.json without admin.

FAQ
How Zubtitle.me works and answers to the main questions.
What does Zubtitle.me do?
Zubtitle.me extracts existing text subtitle tracks from uploaded video files, translates subtitle files to SRT, can resync SRT timing, and can OCR Blu-ray PGS/SUP image subtitles through the dedicated OCR workflow.
Can I upload any video or subtitle?
No. You must only upload subtitles or text that you own or that are free of rights. Copyrighted or licensed content must not be submitted.
Which files are supported?
The default V1 accepts MKV, MP4, M4V, SRT, ASS, SSA, VTT, TXT and Blu-ray PGS/SUP OCR jobs, subject to the file types enabled by the administrator.
Why can a subtitle be ready without uploading the whole MKV?
Zubtitle.me parses the release name and checks archived subtitles first. Source, FPS, year, season/episode and language help avoid incompatible matches.
How does PGS/SUP OCR work?
PGS/SUP subtitles are image subtitles. Zubtitle.me produces a draft SRT through the dedicated OCR workflow. Low-confidence lines are shown with their source images before admin validation.
What are the limits?
Visitors can process 1 file per day with a 1 GB upload limit. Accounts can process 3 files per day with a 5 GB upload limit. Donor days allow unlimited processing and a 15 GB upload limit while active.
How do donations work?
Each 1 € donation gives 1 unlimited donor day. Donors also receive higher queue priority.
How is the queue ordered?
Donor jobs are processed first, then account jobs, then visitor jobs. At equal priority, jobs are fairly distributed by member.
What does Resync do?
Resync converts subtitle timing between common FPS values and applies a positive or negative second offset.
Where is the VLC plugin configuration?
In VLC, open the View menu, then click Zubtitle.me. The Windows installer can also configure the API token, language and automatic startup.
Is there an API?
Yes. The web interface, uploads, OCR page, account area, administration, RSS, VLC plugin and worker callbacks use the /api backend. The interactive documentation is available from /api-docs.
Can I request a subtitle from the contact page?
No. The contact page only handles technical questions, bug reports and DMCA notices.
How long are my files kept?
Source files are temporary and user download links expire according to server retention settings.
